Russia Launches Massive Attacks on Ukraine as Nearly 500 Drones Reported

Russia has launched another major wave of drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, killing civilians and injuring dozens of people, according to Ukrainian officials and international reports.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia used nearly 500 attack drones during the latest assault. The strikes hit several regions, damaging residential buildings, businesses and important infrastructure.

The city of Odesa was among the hardest-hit areas. A residential high-rise was damaged, with dozens of people reported injured. Other attacks were reported in Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Kramatorsk and the Zhytomyr region.

Officials said the attacks caused civilian deaths in several locations. Emergency teams continued working to rescue people, put out fires and assess the damage.

Zelenskyy said the increasing attacks are not limited to military targets. He accused Russia of increasingly targeting Ukraine's economic infrastructure, including facilities that are important for energy, transportation and daily life.

Russia, however, says its forces are targeting Ukrainian military and industrial facilities. Moscow has also accused Ukraine of carrying out attacks against Russian infrastructure.

The latest escalation comes as Ukraine prepares for another difficult winter. Damage to energy and other critical infrastructure could create additional pressure on civilians if attacks continue.

At the same time, diplomatic efforts to end the war remain uncertain. Zelenskyy has expressed support for further talks, but there is still no clear agreement on when or where meaningful negotiations could take place.

The latest attacks show that, despite continuing diplomatic efforts, the Russia-Ukraine war remains highly dangerous, with civilians and critical infrastructure increasingly caught in the conflict.
